September Eve!

I cannot welcome September without telling you about a wonderful milestone my family celebrated in August.  My adorable nephew Isaac celebrated his first birthday!  Isaac and his Mom and Dad were in Canada for a two week visit which culminated in a baseball themed birthday party the day after Isaac's first Toronto Blue Jays game.  (Jays won 11-2!)
 
Isaac's party had all the perfect ingredients including
- family and lots of cousins and their gorgeous kids
- friends who were kind enough not to eat Isaac up
- butter chicken and naan for the adults, hot dogs and popcorn for the kiddies
- blue freezies...because they are the tastiest
- and last but not least...

 

...a delicious birthday cake!  

Minaz always picks the best cakes and this one was so fun to look at and even more fun to eat.  YUM!

The Colour Of

A few weeks ago, my #1 Canadian penpal Zoe pointed me in the direction of this fun website The Color Of.  They describe themselves in saying, "This is a system created to find out the colour of anything, by querying and aggregating image data from Flickr, a popular online photo sharing community. It is an attempt at answering a potentially complex and abstract question in an objective manner, by using simple algorithms on data originating from subjective human perceptions."

I, of course, took this very technical and complicated method of deriving colour and did a very serious and scientific search for...

(Fellow connoisseurs Micaela and Karina will agree that these capture both the golden glow of the perfect fry as well as the happy sunny feeling they can so easily provide.  Sigh.)

Again in all curious seriousness, I asked myself, "What is the colour of my favourite TV show?"  The Colour Of kindly provided me with this complicated answer...

The Guest Book Project wraps up...with a wedding!

They did it!  Last weekend, Naaz and Kushan got married.  They were so calm and confident walking down the aisle and as you can see happiness is pouring out of them

For those of you who participated in the Guest Book Project, you know that their wedding had a travel theme to it.  Here is their way cool wedding strawberry shortcake.  The suitcase represents Naaz, while the backpack represents her hubby!  I love the world map that it rests on. 

Everyone got a topiary with the name of a county on it. 

Every table was named after a country that Naaz and/or Kushan had visited.  The photograph on the table name was taken either by Naaz or Kushan while in that country.

I have to admit I didn't get a chance to get too many pictures of the guest book table.  Here are a few of  the postcards that guests got to choose from. 

And here is the newlywed's mailbox!  All the postcards filled with words of love and celebration were put into the mailbox once they were done.

After an amazing dinner and just before we hit the dance floor, I got a chance to catch up with the newlyweds !

And for Micaela and Karina...look what came out at the midnight buffet!

Naaz and Kushan are currently on their honeymoon in Turkey and The Maldives and on their behalf, I'd like to say thank you to everyone who made this such a special day for them.  They are two of this world's best people!

A Guest Book Project Thank You!

Three more sleeps until Naaz and Kushan's wedding of fun! 

A warm and appreciative THANK YOU to everyone who sent in postcards for their wedding guest book.  Love and hugs to all my friends as well as Naaz and Kushan's friends who remembered this little task on their travels over the past year. 

I also got postcards from France, Germany and China from people I don't even know.  To you folks wherever you may be, THANK YOU for sharing in the spirit of this fun project. 

Naaz and Kushan have a super chic white mailbox for their guests to put their completed postcards in.  Today, I sorted through all 250 postcards from as far away as New Zealand and as close as...down the street from me.  I have to admit I had to resort to a little child labour in the sorting process.
