Happy Things to End the Week With

I've been wanting to do one of these (inspired by Micaela over at Dolce Vita) for a very long time! The very simplest of things made me smile this week.

1. Debbi Morgan and Darnell Williams reunited on The Young and the Restless!
Soap opera fans may remember them as SUPER COUPLE Angie and Jesse on All My Children.  I love the chemistry between these two.  This week in Genoa City on my favourite soap (see above) Morgan's character Harmony went to an AA meeting.  After some podium time at the meeting, she sat down beside Williams' character Sarge. They made eye contact.  Yes. That was it.  But I felt the HEAT. Who's with me?

2. Discovering tofu shirataki noodles
I discovered Shirataki noodles this week and had them three days in row!  I tried the fettucine, spaghetti and then the angel hair.  Spaghetti was my favourite of the bunch.  I haven't mastered the draining of the noodles quite yet but they were so filling and not so different from other pastas that I've tried.  They definitely are not as dense and have a spongier chew to them.  At 20 calories per serving, they are vegan, gluten, cholesterol AND sugar free.  Score!

3. Rediscovering Aquafit
Melanie and I went back to Aquafit class at the YMCA after a few weeks away and had a great workout!  Barbells under water?  Ouch!  Charles taught this week and I felt the burn.  I like my Aquafit instructor to also be a great deejay so I'm excited for Liam to be back next week.  His class is amazing and the music is so fun!   I'm pretty sure I'm gonna rock the senior citizen water aerobic circuit when I'm older.
And no, a string bikini wouldn't cut it during Aquafit.

Happy New Year everyone!  March 21st was Navroz.  The gorgeous weather we had this year really made it feel like a day of possibility!

5. Live Music!
Makeda accompanied me to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra's A Century of Broadway show this week.  We had front row seats and had such a great time listening to great songs from musicals like West Side Story, Chicago and The Phantom of the Opera. I also discovered the amazing voice of Doug LaBrecque.  He is one of the most diverse singers, I've heard in a while.  Wow! I'm so fortunate to live in a city with so much music and art and LIFE just outside my door.

6. Book Club
Met with my favourite ladies tonight for book club.  We talked about Four Seasons in Rome by Anthony Doer as we ate a most delicious Italian meal care of our host Marta.
Marta's bruschetta!  A fresh and tasty appetizer before her amazing spaghetti with tomato and meatball sauce.

We topped the night off with a Boci birthday cake for Maxine and then got to see these cuties for a quick minute.  From left to right; Mama Marta, Baby Charlotte, Papa John and Baby James.  What an adorable family.

Thankful for a gorgeous week!

Sounds like you have so many wonderful things going on, and I'm so happy for you! Bruschetta is one of my favorite things ever, and thankfully, tomatoes are about to be in season here! I'm fascinated by the Shiritaki noodles, though I'm not the biggest fan of tofu, so I'm a wee bit skeptical . . . but if you like them, it's worth a shot for me. :)
