Now that my cheeks have ceased their happy aching, let me tell you about a day that left me smiling from ear to ear thanks to these three women.
Minaz, Mom and Vanessa
This past weekend, my wonderful mother and two sisters-in-law planned and gave me a beautiful, loving and fun bridal shower attended by many of the women who I am blessed to call family. The entire event was planned around the theme of this blog and several of my Pinterest boards. All the things that make me happy were ever present.
When I walked in, I noticed the walls covered in beautiful sayings from my Love board. When my love and I were loving each other from a distance, we used to text all day and talk for hours every night. I remember sending him the quote below. Seeing it up on the wall made me smile and give thanks for how far we've come.
We played a game based on my Man Candy board. Everyone donned a photo from it and if you were caught saying a few predetermined words you lost your little piece of sweet candy to whomever caught you. My cousin Zahida (whom I now know is a Man Candy expert) won the game hands down.
Zahida was almost as big a winner as I was and in partnership with my niece Rehaana, she also won a trivia game based on my blog.
Rehaana shows us the winning answers!
We took breaks in between games to devour my favourite foods that have all been featured here as well.
Sante Fe Crock Pot Chicken Chili featured here.
My mom's potatoes and peas featured here.
Cupcakes from my talented cousin Farah featured here.
Everyone who attended was also invited to take home a bag of chocolate and candy (no, not Man Candy) based on my post Chocolate Snob.
The best part of the day was the company. I am privileged to be part of a large family living all over the world. It was great to be able to spend an afternoon together and made me even more excited to share our wedding day with all of them!
My aunt Mumtaz who currently lives in the Congo, me and my mom.
My cousins and nieces.
This is me feeling blessed to be between my two strong, vibrant and loving sisters-in-law.
Grateful for life's transitions that bring us together to celebrate!
